Our Principal

‘Growing a community of lifelong learners within our classroom, our rural environment and in life.’

'Te tipu i te hapori o nga akonga ako-roa i roto i to taatau akomanga, to taiao me to tatou oranga.’

Kia ora koutou, a warm welcome from Mataroa School.

I feel honoured, starting my journey as a principal at Mataroa School. I was appointed principal at the beginning of Term 3, 2017. It’s a privilege to be part of the Mataroa team, working together, committed to providing a rich learning environment for all our tamariki, and I get to spend my days with a fabulous bunch of kids. When I’m not working in my office I have the pleasure of teaching in Tiriraukawa Room (Yrs. 3-8).

I have been teaching for nearly 20 years and gained my Bachelor of Education at Massey University College of Education. I have taught a range of year levels, predominantly, Years 3 through to Year 8, and at a variety of different schools both here in New Zealand and Manchester, England. I have called New Zealand home for the past 32 years, I have been married to my awesome husband, Rob, for 16 years, and to complete our family of 3, we have an 11 year old daughter, Kendra. I have a love of gardening, I enjoy the calm and peacefulness it brings when working with nature.

I am passionate, about what is happening in education at the moment, and helping students realise their potential.

Thank you for visiting our website, we look forward to working alongside your child and whanau.
